AI adoption is becoming a useless benchmark.
Having the same tool doesn’t mean we’re playing the same game.
A 10-person startup can build and launch an agent this week.
Put that agent inside a 120,000-person company and the work changes completely.
It has to fit the business already there: the data, the systems, the workflows, the customers, and the people who have to keep it running.
Same technology. Different operating reality.
Today’s market shows why that matters.
→ 84% of executives say AI produces increased financial returns. (Google Cloud, July 2026)
→ Coding and system/agent operations make up nearly 75% of agentic enterprise messages. (OpenAI, August 2026)
AI is already moving into operations.
So the question changes.
Soon, saying a company uses AI will be like saying it uses the internet.
Of course it does.
I’ve seen this through years of digital and GTM transformation.
Small companies can build forward.
Mature companies have to decide what to prioritize: systems that still work, what needs to be rebuilt, where AI earns investment, and what the business needs to modernize.
There’s already a business there worth protecting.
Years of customer relationships, operating knowledge, technology, and investment don’t disappear because a better model arrives.
What matters now is where AI changes the business enough to create more customer value and better economics.
The transformation has to fit the business. Not the other way around.
Execution Beats Theory. Every Time.
